MapShare is here to help YOU! According to several estimates, almost 80% of all digital data has a spatial element to it; in other words, it CAN be mapped. With the emergence of intuitive mapping technologies, marked by the recent introduction of ubiquitous and user-friendly web-based mapping interfaces such as Google Maps and Microsoft's Virtual Earth, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is fast becoming a necessary inter-disciplinary research tool for its replicability, data sharing capacities, and spatial data integration. As the campus explores the potential of expanding such technologies, we believe that communication and sharing of geographic information are essential tools for academics and students in this digital age.
